PMC-Sierra, Dasan, Ink EPON Deal with SKT
January 19, 2007
PMC-Sierra, a California-based broadband communications and storage chip provider, and Dasan, a Korea-based broadband access equipment provider, recently announced that SKT (SK Telecom) has selected them for deployment of FTTH (Fibre-to-the-Home) equipment based on Dason's EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Networks) solution in Seoul. This solution will be used to deliver triple-play services including voice, data, and video services. PMC-Sierra stated EPON-based FTTH deployments can lower the network maintenance costs.
